Mortgage broker admin training, live online

Live online admin training for mortgage brokerage support staff: our four courses and 13 modules, what to look for, and the other options in Australia.

"Admin training" for a mortgage brokerage means one of two things, and search results mix them up. One is the Certificate IV, the qualification a person needs to become a broker. The other is practical training for the admin, support and processing staff who already work in a brokerage and need to handle real files. This page is about the second kind, delivered live online. It lists what we run, what to look for in any provider, and how to tell this kind of training apart from the rest.

Two things people mean by "admin training"

Search for mortgage broker admin training and you will get Cert IV providers first. That is the qualification, and it is the right answer if the person is going to write loans under their own name one day. It is twelve units, mostly about conduct, regulation and product knowledge, delivered by registered training organisations. We do not run it.

If the person is going to support a broker, which is most admin and processing roles, the Cert IV is not what they need. They need to collect the right documents, read what comes back, run servicing, write the notes and load the application. Nobody checks a certificate for that. They check the file.

What to look for in live online training for support staff

  • Live, not a recording. The value is in the question about the file on their desk.
  • Real Australian files and real lender policy, not a generic case study.
  • Someone teaching who has done the job. Ask what they did before they taught.
  • Small groups, camera on, so people ask.
  • A clear stopping point. Training that promises everything usually teaches the broker's job, not the support job.
  • CPD points for the brokers who attend, recognised by MFAA and FBAA.
  • A way back in if a session does not land: re-sits.

Our live online courses for admin and support staff

Every course we run is live on Zoom with Amanda O'Hara, a mortgage and credit specialist with 25 years in the industry, in small groups, camera on, MFAA and FBAA approved, with free re-sits for six months. Each course is a sequence of two-hour modules.

Intakes run monthly. The next dates for every course are on the schedule page.

One skill at a time: the 13 modules

Every course is built from the same library of thirteen modules, and any module can be booked on its own: $225, two hours, live, 2 CPD points. If the admin is fine on documents but lost on servicing, book Servicing. If the only problem is ApplyOnline, book the ApplyOnline Masterclass.

How this differs from the Cert IV and from product training

Your aggregator and your lenders run training too, and it is worth taking: it teaches their software and their policy. It does not teach someone to read a credit report, and it is not meant to. The Cert IV covers the licence, product training covers the software, and our courses cover the file in between, which is the support role's whole job.

Training a whole team on your own files

Two or more people? We run a private cohort around your workflow and your lenders, scheduled around your business.
